Midnight Breed Series
By Lara Adrian

"An Exciting and Refreshing New Series"

New Review Book #8

This latest installment of the Midnight Breed series delivers a very nice segue to its predecessor, Shades of Midnight.  As we saw the destruction of the Ancient in the previous book, we learn that he has left an incredible legacy within Jenna.  Though the book starts a bit slow in the beginning it certainly picks up later on as we watch Jenna transform into a supernatural being herself.  Also, to add spice in the mix, the love interest between her and Brock gives the book a nice boost.  Overall, Shades of Midnight is a good read that you can enjoy while laying out by the pool or at the beach this summer!

Excerpt from book #8

At the crossroads of death and desire, a woman tastes a pleasure no mortal is meant to survive . . .

In the frozen Alaskan wilderness, former state trooper Jenna Darrow survives an unspeakable breach of body and soul. But with her narrow escape comes an even greater challenge. For strange changes are taking place within her, as she struggles to understand--and control--a new hunger. To do so, she will seek shelter in the Boston compound of the Order, an ancient race of vampire warriors whose very existence is shrouded in mystery. Perhaps the most mysterious of them all is Brock, a brooding, dark-eyed alpha male whose hands hold the power to comfort, heal . . . and arouse.

As she recovers under Brock's care, Jenna finds herself drawn to the Order's mission: to stop a ruthless enemy and its army of assassins from subjecting Earth to a reign of terror. Yet in spite of their resolve, a purely physical relationship without strings soon binds Brock and Jenna together with a desire fiercer than life and stronger than death itself--until a secret from Brock's past and Jenna's own mortality challenges their forbidden love to the ultimate trial by fire.

Shades of Midnight

New Review Book #7

Shades Midnight was an amazing read and one of our favorites in the series.  The book features Kade, one of the newest members of the Order as he journeys back to his homeland and deals with the painful memories of being the twin to a brother who is battling with blood lust.  He made quite an impression on us in earlier books as we watched his character develop.  To add excitement to the book, here we come face to face with the Ancient, the oldest and most powerful vampire in the planet as he prowls the wild tundra in search of his next prey.

Shades of Midnight is filled with enough action and romance to satisfy the most discriminate paranormal romance genre fans.  Lara Adrian did a wonderful job in describing the wild and raw beauty of Alaska as well as depicting the close, small town feeling of Harmony, the town where this book takes place.  The grisly and gruesome killings certainly deliver a serious dose of blood and gore which is a nice balance to the soft and romantic moments in the book.

Excerpt from book #7

In a frozen wilderness steeped in darkness the lines between good and evil, lover and enemy; are never black or white but drawn in Shades of Midnight.  Something inhuman is stalking the frigid Alaskan wilds, leaving unspeakable carnage in its wake.  For bush pilot Alexandra Maguire, the killings stir memories of a horrible event she witnessed as a child and evoke in her the inexplicable sense of otherness she has long felt within herself but never fully understood….until a darkly seductive stranger with secrets of his own enters her world.

Sent from Boston on a mission to investigate the savage attacks and stop the slaughter, vampire warrior Kade has his own reasons for returning to the frigid, forbidden place of his birth.  Haunted by a secret shame, Kade soon realizes the stunning truth of the threat he faces—a threat that will jeopardize the fragile bond he has formed with the courageous, determined young woman who arouses his deepest passions and most primordial hungers.  But in bringin
g Alex into his world of blood and darkness, Kade must confront both his own personal demons and the even greater evil that could destroy all that he holds near.

New Book Review #6

Ashes of Midnight certainly starts off with enough fireworks to make pyromaniacs extremely happy.  After the complete and savage destruction of his home and death of his loved ones Darkhaven leader Andre Reichen has only one goal on his mind—revenge and he will stop at nothing to get it; even if he has to use Claire Roth, the wife of his hated enemy, the person responsible for the destruction of his home who also happens to be his ex-lover.    After methodically killing each of the persons responsible for the hated crime and using his pyrokinetic ability, Andreas delivers a series of explosions to key Darkhavens and plans to deliver his final blow by killing Claire’s mate.  In an unexpected twist of fate he finds himself battling with his old feelings for her as well as his inability to control the fire that is starting to consume his being.  For using such a dark power comes with incredible risks but Andreas is resigned to lose his life and cannot resist the fire that is slowly raging out of control within him.

This book was certainly a page turner; with really cool fireworks and and bittersweet romance mixed in we could not help but fall in love with it!

Excerpt from Book #6

Veil of Midnight
New Review- Book 5

Midnight Veil is one of our personal favorites.  We simply loved the introduction of a female Breedmate warrior because HOV just loves a lady that can kick some butt.  Renata, is not only beautiful and kind she is also quite deadly.  Her unique psychic ability makes her not only a formidable adversary but also a perfect mate for our extreme thrill-seeking Breed warrior, Nikolai.  Their union is explosive yet tender and you can’t help but root for this pair of lovers to succeed above all odds.

This book is packed with great action and thrills starting almost immediately and kept a nice brisk pace throughout the book.  Also, we found intriguing plot development as Nikolai and Renata dig deeper into the mysterious plot that is targeting GenOne warriors for death.  The book ends on a climatic note as the Breed warriors deliver a crippling strike to their enemies.  Although not completely vanquishing the enemy; the unlikely recruitment of an enemy turned ally promises to keep this series exciting and fun to read in future installments.

Excerpt from book #5

A warrior trained in bullets and blades, Renata cannot be bested by any man—vampire or mortal.  But her most powerful weapon is her extraordinary psychic ability—a gift both rare and deadly.  Now a stranger threatens her hard-won independence—a golden-haired vampire who lures her into a realm of darkness…and pleasure beyond imagining.

A combat-loving adrenaline junkie, Nikolai dispenses his own justice to enemies of the Breed—and his latest quarry is a ruthless assassin.  One woman stands in his way: the seductive, cool-as-ice bodyguard, Renata.  But Renata’s powers are put to the test when a loved one, a child, is threatened and she’s forced to run to Niko for help.  As the two join forces, as desire fans the flames of a deeper hunger, Renata’s life is under siege by a man who offers the exquisite pleasure of a blood bond—and a passion that could save or doom them both forever…..

Midnight Rising
New Review - Book #4

In the explosive ending of Midnight Awakening we discovered the existence of one of the original members of the Breed, an Ancient who is the only survivor left out of the eight original invaders dating thousands of years ago.  Unfortunately, the cave somewhere in the middle of the Czech Republic where the Ancient rested for hundreds of years is empty with no trace of his whereabouts.  The warrior Rio, is thus left behind to clean up and remove any evidence of the hibernation chamber located in the cave.  While battling his inner demons Rio decides to bury himself along with the evidence but through a twist of fate Dylan enters the cave and ends up taking pictures of not only the hibernation chamber but also of Rio.  She is a reporter working on a story which Rio cannot allow to come to light.  He ends up kidnapping her and along the way discovers she is a Breedmate.

Midnight Rising, dives deeper into the inner workings of Dragos operation as he continues his evil plan to use the Ancient as the ultimate weapon against the Order and mankind.  This installment delivers an exciting story line with extremely likeable characters and a serious dose of suspense, thrills and bittersweet romance.   We love how Rio, the tortured Breed warrior is finally able to overcome the emotional damage caused by the betrayal of his wife and learns to trust once again.  Get ready for a very explosive ending which leaves readers thirsty for more!

Excerpt from book #4

Fueled by pain and rage over a shattering betrayal, the warrior Rio has pledged his life to the war against the Rogues.  He will let nothing stand in his way—least of all a mortal woman with the power to expose the entire vampire race.  But now an ancient evil has been awakened, and a stunning darkness is on the rise.

For journalist Dylan Alexander, it began with the discovery of a hidden tomb. Suddenly she is at the center of a gathering storm of violence and secrets.  But nothing is as dangerous as the scarred, lethally seductive man who rises from the shadows to plunge her into his world of dark desire and endless night.  Here she is powerless to resist Rio’s touch, even as she uncovers a shocking link to her own past. Now Dylan must choose: Leave Rio’s midnight realm, or risk it all for the man who has shown her true passion and the infinite pleasures of the heart…

Midnight Awakening

Book Review #3

In Midnight Awakening we encounter Elise, a strong Breed mate who has lost both her husband and son to the depravities of Rogue vampires.  While seeking retribution she singlehandedly and bravely hunts Minions in order to thwart the evil plans of Marek, the leader of the Rogues.  Along comes Tegan a GenOne vampire; one of the strongest, and oldest members of the Order.  He is self control personified directly clashing with Elise’s powerfully raw yet unstable psychic power.  We loved how these two incredible characters team up and embark on a journey that takes them from Boston to Germany as they investigate a mysterious journal that hints the existence of a dark secret that threatens the survival of the human race.

This book was a real page turner and kept us intrigued from beginning till end.  The plot develops further revealing the beginnings of a chilling and twisted master plan that was set into motion hundreds of years ago.  We conclude that this is yet another great success for Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series and HOV is certainly “hooked” on the Midnight Breed series.

Excerpt from book #3

With a dagger in her hand and vengeance on her mind, Darkhaven beauty Elise Chase prowls Boston’s streets in search of retribution against the Rogue vampires who took from her everything she cherished.  Using an extraordinary psychic gift, she tracks her prey, well aware that the power she possesses is destroying her.  She must learn to harness this gift, and for that she can turn only to one man—the deadliest of the Breed warriors, Tegan.
No stranger to loss, Tegan knows Elise’s pain. He knows fury, but when he slays his enemies it is with ice in his veins.  He is perfect in his self-control, until Elise seeks his aid in her personal war.  An unholy alliance is forged—a bond that will link them by blood and vow—and plunge them into a tempest of danger, desire and the darkest passions of the heart…

Kiss of Midnight
Review Book #1

The first installment to the Midnight Breed series certainly starts off with a bang or should we say fang?  The opening scene is a flashback to a young woman and newborn baby being attacked by a vampire at a bus station and then carries on to present-day where said child is all grown up and witnesses a gang of vampires kill a man at a nightclub.  This series definitely brings up an interesting and refreshing take on vampires.  The Breed is a vampire species that are descendants of humans mixed with alien DNA.  The story begins with Lucan a first generation vampire and direct descendant from one of the “ancients” who started the vampire race.  He is the leader of the Breed Warriors who are sworn to protect vampire civilians and humans alike from a faction of vampires, Rogues, that have succumbed to bloodlust and have become a threat to all.

We can’t help but fall in love with Lucan, who portrays a strong and formidable protector but who is also vulnerable as he struggles with his inner demons as his control tethers on the brink bloodlust.  Only the beautiful Grabrielle may be able to pull him out from the darkness and calm the beast within.  This first installment is very promising and we can’t wait to get through the rest of the series!

Excerpt from book #1

He watches her from across the crowded dance club, a sensual black-haired stranger who stirs Gabrielle Maxwell’s deepest fantasies. But nothing about this night—or this man—is what it seems. For when Gabrielle witnesses a murder outside the club, reality shifts into something dark and deadly. In that shattering instant she is thrust into a realm she never knew existed—a realm where vampires stalk the shadows and a blood war is set to ignite.

Lucan Thorpe despises the violence carried out by his lawless brethren. A vampire himself, Lucan is a Breed Warrior, sworn to protect his kind—and the unwitting humans exiting alongside them—from the mounting threat of the Rogues. Lucan cannot risk binding himself to a mortal woman, but when Gabrielle is targeted by his enemies, he has no choice but to bring her into the dark underworld he commands.

Kiss of Crimson
Review Book #2

This second installment of the Midnight Breed series was amazing.  Another action-pack beginning infused with an increasingly intriguing plot that elaborates on the strategic organization of the Rogue vampires as they continue to plague the Breed warriors.  The leader of the Rogue vampires has discovered a street drug called “crimson” which accelerates the bloodlust state in vampires as a side effect and is planning to target young breed vampires to ply them with the drug so that he can build an army of Rogues.  At the center of this discovery is Dante one of the most formidable Breed warriors who ends up severely wounded and left for dead after a bloody encounter with an adversary that is suffering from a “crimson-induced-bloodlust high”.  In order to survive his severe injuries he attacks a young woman veterinarian without knowing that with his bite he has irrevocable changed her destiny.

Kiss of Crimson was a delight to read and a real page turner.  We really enjoyed further introduction of interesting new characters especially Chase, who ends up becoming Dante’s partner.  We feel there is definitely a future story with Chase and look forward to reading it.  Overall, we give this second installment of the Midnight Breed series a strong thumbs-up!

Excerpt from book #2

He comes to her more dead than alive, a towering black-clad stranger riddled with bullets and rapidly losing blood. As she struggles to save him, veterinarian Tess Culver is unaware that the man calling himself Dante is no man at all, but one of the Breed, vampire warriors engaged in a desperate battle.  In a single erotically charged moment Tess is plunged into his world—a shifting, shadowed place where bands of Rogue vampires stalk the night, cutting a swath of terror.

Haunted by visions of a dark future, Dante lives and fights like there is no tomorrow. Tess is a complication he does not need—but now, with his brethren under attack, he must shield Tess from a growing threat that includes Dante himself. For with one reckless, irresistible kiss, she has become an inextricable part of his underworld realm…and his touch awakens her to hidden gifts, desires, and hungers she never knew she possessed. Bonded by blood, Dante and Tess must work together to thwart deadly enemies, even as they discover a passion that transcends the boundaries of life itself….

House of Night

By P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast

"A great series that you can really sink your teeth into!"

New Review – Book #4

In Chosen we see Zoey’s world shattered as she deals with the death of her lover, the painful loss of her imprint with her ex-boyfriend and the bitter ending to a relationship with her fledging boyfriend.  In addition to this, her friends & inner circle of power no longer trust her so she finds herself alone and vulnerable.  Surprisingly, Aphrodite becomes more than an ally to Zoey as she embraces her new role as Nyx’s prophetess despite her change in status at the HON.  Thus we find both of these young women gaining strength by teaming up to face the challenges that lie ahead; leading to facing the person responsible for creating the red fledglings whose ultimate goal is to instigate an all out war against humans.

Untamed is a heady and wonderful follow up to Chosen.  With the leader of the red fledglings openly taking control of the House of Night, we witness a deeply sinister plot unfold.  Zoey has her hands full as she attempts to mend her relationship with her friends and gain their trust again as well as uncovering a secret plot that connects the red fledglings to a master plan that goes beyond the destruction of humans.  To add to the excitement in the series is the introduction of an ancient evil that is awakening and threatening to rise from the depths of darkness to seek revenge for a wrong committed by one of Zoey’s past lives dating as far back a millennia.  This book is fast paced and a real page turner.  We loved every minute of it including an explosive cliffhanger ending which leaves you more than ready for the next installment, Hunted.

Excerpt from book #4

The Raven Mockers were everywhere.  It was just after midnight New Year’s Eve and the creatures had their pickings of tipsy, celebrating humans who poured out of the clubs and restaurants and beautiful old oil mansions because they’d heard the crackle and pop of the creature’s inhuman fire and, thinking the city had set off fireworks, rushed out to watch the show.  I wondered with oddly detached horror how many of them looked up at the sky only to have their last sight be terrible red eyes of men looking out at them from monstrous faces.

New Review – Book # 3

At the conclusion of Betrayed, Zoey manages to once again reign over evil and saves the day by stopping those responsible for the kidnapping and killing of human teenagers.  However, we quickly discover that those responsible for the crimes were not completely vanquished and in fact are not yet done creating havoc and destruction.  At the head of this group is an incredibly powerful and evil enemy hiding in plain sight and wearing sheep’s clothing.  But Zoey and her friends are not completely defenseless; as their affinity with the five elements brings them closer, they’ve also become a formidable force to be reckoned with.  Thus continues this incredible tale of a young heroine & her inner circle of power and their quest to ensure that good prevails over evil once again.
Chosen, did not disappoint, in fact it continued to draw us further into the ominous world of the HON.  We rejoiced at the unexpected return of a great character that through an incredible twist of fate re-enters the story line in a very compelling and intriguing manner.  In the midst of all; the development of Zoey’s romantic life becomes a complex labyrinth stirring deep emotions which lead to self discovery, disappointment and ultimately to a betrayal that threatens to shake the very foundation of everything that she believes in leaving her alone in a treacherous game.  Through instinctively and insightful writing by the mother/daughter co-authors of this series, Chosen offers a great mix of drama and suspense along with a dose of witty humor.  You can’t help but continue to remain “hooked” on this series.

Excerpt from book #3

He was on his hands and knees, groaning in pain, with his head almost touching the floor.  I couldn’t see his face, but could see that sweat—was already soaking his shirt.  I knew what would follow: Blood would gush from his eyes, nose, mouth, and he would literally drown in his own fluids.  And, yes, it would be as horrible as it sounded.  Nothing could stop it.  Nothing could change it.  All I could do was be there for him and hope….

New Review- Book# 2

In Marked we were introduced to Zoey, a young teenager who is “marked” to become a vampire and becomes the newest member at the House of Night.  Through a series of events Zoey gains an affinity to control the five elements water, wind, fire, earth and spirit.  Book two, Betrayed, picks up exactly where Marked left off.  After defeating Aphrodite and with Neferet’s (HON’s High Priestess) blessing Zoey takes her place as the new leader of the Dark Daughters and also becomes High Priestess in training. Things are certainly going well for Zoey and she is beginning to feel like she belongs at HON.  She is keeping busy dealing with her new duties as the leader of the DD as well as, juggling an ex-boyfriend that she accidentally imprinted with, a new boyfriend (fellow fledgling) and a budding but forbidden romance with a sexy professor.  In the middle of all of this, things quickly turn dark and filled with intrigue & betrayal as human teen agers suddenly disappear and are later found dead as well as the unexplained ghost-like appearances of previously deceased fledglings.  In an unexpected twist; friends become enemies, and enemies become allies.   Zoey is then forced to face incredible sorrow due to the loss of a loved one as well as the sudden disappearance of her human ex-boyfriend.  Will this wonderful heroine be able to overcome these painful challenges?  Find out by reading Betrayed.

We really enjoyed the second installment to the House of Night series.  The book is delightful and provides a fresh/current perspective to life from a teenage vampire-to-be point of view.  Further development of charming and funny characters, representing Zoey’s inner circle of power add to the great dynamics of others within the story.  Also, introduction of Loren, the sexy new professor who seems to be claiming a place in her heart adds to the drama and suspense of this sinfully addictive series.  Betrayal reaches an amazing climax as good overcomes evil however,  this victory proves to be only temporary as a greater evil slowly comes to life leaving you hungry for the next installment.

Excerpt from book #2
“His voice shivered through me.  Logic was telling me that he was only asking to see my tattoos because of how freakishly different they are, and that he was in no way coming on to me.  To him I must seem nothing more than a child-a kid-a fledgling with weird Marks an unusual powers. That’s what logic was telling me. But his eyes, his voice, the way his hand was still caressing my shoulder—those things were telling me something completely different.”

Book Review- Book# 1

Enter the dark, mystical, magical world of The House of Night: A place where young teenagers or “fledglings” are sent to once they have been “marked”.  The HON is a high school of sorts; it is a place where fledglings can go to study and learn about the transition to ultimately become a vampyre.   However, not all of those who are “marked” are guaranteed to go through the transition and become a vampyre; another outcome is inevitably death (a result of a body rejecting the change).

Marked introduces, Zoey Redbird who seems to be your average sixteen year old girl with high school/football player sweetheart, friends & family who plans to move on to college and pursue a normal life.  That is until one day, when she is “marked”.  Zoey is thus forced to leave everything and everyone she knows and loves in order to move into the HON.   As the story evolves we also learn that Zoey is not the typical fledgling, the Goddess Nyx has given her the gift to control the five elements which is a sign that she will one day become a powerful High Priestess.  Marked, covers Zoey’s journey as she enters a new school where she is the new kid on the block.  We witness her struggle to acclimate to her new surroundings as well as to the changes taking place within her as she begins her transition to becoming a vampyre and a High Priestess.  We also see her success at building new friendships which include finding a new love interest.   However, not all is as it seems at the HON and Zoey unwittingly attracts unwanted enemies, The Dark Daughters.  The book reaches its climax with Zoey fighting a life/death battle against an evil awaked by the leader of the Dark Daughters (Aphrodite) that will determine Zoey’s place at the HON.

We really enjoyed this first installment of the House of Night series.  The plot is rich and filled with intrigue and drama all delivered in a light & fun voice; after all, Zoey is a teenager.  The introduction and development of great supporting characters add great entertainment to this contemporary story about new-age vampires and should satisfy the most avid paranormal readers.  You can’t help but fall in love with this young yet strong-willed heroine as she maneuvers through the intricate labyrinth of the House of Night.  If you liked the Twilight Saga series and Vampire Diaries you are certain to get “hooked” on this series right of the bat.

Excerpt from book #1

“Come to the ritual. Pretend you’re part of the dark daughters. But you’d better remember something. They’re my Dark Daughters. You’re the outsider; the one who is not wanted. And remember this, too. Erik Night and I have a bond that you’ll never understand.”

J.R. Ward - Black Dagger Brotherhood

This vampire series comprises eight installments with the most recent book just released in April, 2010.  The first book of the series "Dark Lover" certainly presents an engrossing and exciting tale of a "breed" of vampire warriors called the Black Dagger Brotherhood.  These fearless and sexy vampires go by names such as Wrath, Thorment, Phury, Zsadist, Rhage, Vishious & Destroyer and are a combination of GQ meets Hells Angels.  Their code of honor to protect the "race" as well as maintain their existence secret from the human world.  This is by far one of the most modern, creative, provocative and exciting tales in the vampire genre today.   If you are looking for something a bit more mature than  the Twilight Saga or Vampire Diaries then we recommend that you take this book series out for a trial run.  Below you will find our humble review on each of the books, we hope you enjoy reading these!

Lover Mine

Review Book #8

In book 7th (Lover Avenged) we were left with such a cliff-hanger that many J.R. Ward fans have been counting the days since then till Lover Mine made it to the bookstores.  Lash, son of the evil Omega (creator of the Lesseners) kidnaps Xhex and leaves John Matthew devastated and desperate to find her.

In her usual impeccable writing style J.R Ward continues to draw and capture readers deeper and deeper into the world of the Brotherhood. Lover Mine not only brought closure to the relationship between John Matthew and Xhex; but also opened the door for future fantastic story telling.   In addition, the introduction of brand new characters such as Xhex's old lover Murhder as well as the continuing  development of exciting characters that were introduced back in book 5 (Lover Unbound); clearly demonstrate to J.R Ward fans that this series is not going away any time soon.  In fact the interview posted here confirms that we are all in for a long and amazing ride.

In comparison to Lover Avenged, Lover Mine was a little more erratic with various subplots, at one point we did find ourselves wondering what was the purpose of one particular plot.  However, at the end we were glad to see it all come together (with a great segue to the next installment).

Interview with author of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, J.R. Ward

As a vicious personal vendetta takes John into the heart of the war, he will need to call up on both who he is now and who he once was in order to face off against evil incarnate.

Having already lost one lover to madness, she will not allow the male of worth to fall prey to the darkness of her twisted life. When fate intervenes, however, the two discover that love, like destiny, is inevitable between soul mates.

Dark Lover

Review Book #1

Dark Lover mixes action, humor and romance in a well balanced plot mix  with emphasis on Wrath and his journey to the throne as he becomes King of the Vampire race and battles with his enemies (Lessening Society) to claim his Queen.  This first installment sets up the storyline and introduces all the characters in a very effective way.  If you are looking for something a bit more mature than  the Twilight Saga then we recommend that you take this book out for a trial run!

Excerpt from book #1

"In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war raging between vampires and their slayers.  There exists a secret band of brothers like no other--six vampire warriors, defenders of their race.  Yet none of them relishes killing their enemies more than Wrath, the leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.....and the only purebred vampire left on the planet".

This vampire series hit the ground running with the first installment, Dark Lover.  In book one Wrath, the Brotherhood’s fearless leader takes his place as King of the Race and finds his true love and queen.  Book two continues the momentum in this enthralling story by focusing on one of the most dynamic characters of the Brotherhood clan, Rhage.  His inner struggle with the beast within is both frightening and exciting.  Further development in the plot includes a closer look at the “slayers” the vampire hunters, subjects of the Omega.

Escape your every-day routine and let  this book enthrall you with the magical world of the Brotherhood.  You will find incredible action, unbridled passion and gentle sorrow.  You will not be able to put this book down and the best part is the ending which leaves you on a cliff hanger and thirsty for more!

Lover Awakened

Review Book #3

In book two, Lover Eternal you are left with a cliff hanger ending and this is where book three, Lover Awakened picks right up.  Never has a series been more explosive and yet bittersweet.  In Lover Awakened, Zsadist, one of most fearsome members of the Brotherhood learns how to overcome the wounds of his tortured past while fulfilling his thirst for revenge against the race’s most hated enemies.  In this book you can’t help being terrified by Zsadist as he openly scorns everyone around him especially women.  He is the only vampire in the Brotherhood that refuses to feed on his own kind and instead prefers to drink from human women, prostitutes.

In this book you will discover how this cruel yet vulnerable warrior is able to overcome his bitter past and surrender to the one woman he can finally trust with his life and heart.  Relax and get ready to be seduced by this harsh yet loving warrior.  Reading Lover Revealed was definitely a pleasure to the senses!

Excerpt from book #3

“A former blood slave, the vampire Zsadist still bears the scars from a past filled with suffering and humiliation.  Renowned for his unquenchable fury and sinister deeds, he is a savage feared by humans and vampires alike.  Anger is his only companion and terror his only passion—until he rescues a female from the evil Lessening Society”

Lover Revealed

Review Book #4

In book one, Dark Lover we meet Butch O’Neal a mere human who clashes paths with Wrath the Brotherhood’s fearless leader.   Through a series of happenstances, Butch finds himself being adopted by the Brotherhood.  As the series progresses we fall in love with this character who despite his shortcomings (being a mortal) forms a strong bond with Vishous, the coldest and most complex member of the Brotherhood.  With this fourth installment, you will get a closer look at the dark force behind the Lessening Society and will see how the fight between good and evil transcends species.

When reading this book, you will not be disappointed and can only expect to fall deeper in love with this vampire series.  This book is fast-paced, witty and a pleasure to read.  Also an unexpected twist at the end brings Butch’s existence full circle leaving you revved up for the next book!

Excerpt from book #4

“Butch O’Neil is a fighter by nature.  A hard-living ex-homicide cop, he’s the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.  And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire world—to engage in the turf war with the lessers.  He’s got nothing to lose.  His heart belongs to a female vampire, an aristocratic beauty who’s way out of his league.  If he can’t have Marissa, then at least he can fight side by side with the Brothers…..Fate curses him with the very thing he wants.  When Butch sacrifices himself  to save a civilian vampire from the slayers, he falls prey to the darkest force in the war.  Left for dead, he’s found by a miracle, and the Brotherhood calls on Marissa to bring him back.  But even her love may not be enough to save him…..”

Lover Unbound
Review Book #5

In the fifth installment of this series, we get inside the head of one of the most controversial and edgy members of the Brotherhood.   Vishous is a sexual dominant who craves control in and out of the bedroom.  In this book he is tortured by a repeating vision that hints at his possible demise.  While suffering from a surprised attack by an unknown assailant, he is rushed to a human hospital and attended to by brilliant heart surgeon, Dr. Jane Whitcomb.  The Brothers stage a daring escape from the hospital before the humans realize that Vishous is not human.  That in itself is not a problem, however, when they decide to kidnap Dr. Whitcomb she suddenly finds herself immersed in the dark but wonderful world of vampires.

An interesting twist in the plot reveals the identity of his mother and brings Vishous to a crossroad that will determine the future of the vampire race.  This book has an unexpected ending and again sets you up for the next book, Lover Enshrined.   Overall, this book was definitely a page turner filled with daring and thought provoking material that will either shock your senses or  thrill them!

Excerpt from book #5

Lover Enshrined
Review Book #6

In the sixth installment of the series, the last of the original members of the Brotherhood, Phury begins his new role as the Primale, leader and master of the “Chosen”.  He is one of the most gentle, reliable and caring Brothers.  However, darkness hovers over him as he wrestles with his inner demons.  While struggling with a drug addiction to Red Smoke and pinning for a lover he can’t ever have, he is reckless out on the field tempting death and thus is a danger to himself.  As a result, Wrath has to make the hard decision to remove him from the Brotherhood in order to save Phury from himself.  Phury is one of the most self- tortured characters in the series and appears almost “human” as he becomes a victim of the frailties of being a drug addict..…….Will finding true love save this amazing warrior? So, thus one of the most bittersweet stories ensues.

This book was a great read and a nice segue to Lover Avenged.  Although at times it was a bit slow and did not have as much action as we are normally used to from previous books, it was a nice change from the other more intense Brothers.  The main focus being Phury's journey to recovery from both physical (drug habit) and mental (guilt for what happened to his twin brother) anguish.  However, further development of subplots pertaining to the Brotherhood's soldiers in training provided great material for future books.

Excerpt from book:

“Fiercely loyal to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Phury has sacrificed himself for the good of the race, becoming the male responsible for keeping the Brotherhood's bloodlines alive. As Primale of the Chosen, he is to father the sons and daughters who will ensure that the traditions of the race survive and that there are warriors to fight those who want all vampires extinguished.

As his first mate, the Chosen Cormia wants to win not only his body but his heart for herself- she sees the emotionally scarred male behind all his noble responsibility. But while the war with the Lessening Society grows more grim, and tragedy looms over the Brotherhood's mansion, Phury must decide between duty and love”.

Lover Avenged
Review Book #7

In Lover Enshrined, Phury, honorable and respectable and the last of the original Black Dagger Brotherhood warriors is finally able to conquer his demons and find true love.  So starts the tale of a not so honorable but  ruthless and notorious vampire drug lord, Rehvenge.   In Lover Avenged, Rehvenge, is a member of the glymera, the social core of the vampire Aristocracy.  However, his sordid past linked to a questionable lineage (he is a Sympath) and tales of murder force him to turn to a life of crime in order to make money to pay an evil blackmailer.  While he is Kingpin of the criminal underworld and deeply feared, Rehvenge longs for a different life; a life of respectability and a love to call his own.   On the other side, an evil rises as “Lash” one of the Brotherhood’s soldier-in-training betrays the vampire race and joins their hated enemy, the Omega.   Lash, has set his sights on becoming the next Kingpin and will stop at nothing to achieve that as well as hurting the Brotherhood where they are most vulnerable.

Simply put:  this book was amazing.  We loved how the story is so intricate and filled with well structured plots, and sub-plots that leave you jumping out of your seat.  Do not be fooled, this book is certainly not a light read.  It is packed with intrigue, action and romance.  Also, this is another book that leaves you on a cliffhanger and thus the journey continues till Lover Mine comes out later this year.  This was one of our personal favorites, so we give it a strong “thumbs up”!

Excerpt from book:

Caldwell, NY, has long been the battleground for the battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the Lessening Society. It’s also where Rehvenge has staked out his turf as a drug lord and notorious nightclub that caters to the rich and heavily armed. His shadowy reputation is exactly why he’s approached to kill Wrath, the Blind King, and leader of the Brotherhood. Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood, even though his sister is married to a member. Because he’s a Sympath, his identity is a deadly secret- the revelation of which will result in his banishment to a colony for sociopaths. And as plots within and outside the Brotherhood take their toll against Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in a darkening world- Elhena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him- and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.
